Church Involvement

First of all, try to identify others at your church who share your pro-life beliefs.  Bring up the subject with your friends or companions in bible study or fellowship group. Talk to your pastor. See if he is interested in increasing awareness of the topic and if he agrees with the importance of offering welcoming and support to those who may be tempted to abort.  One simple thing to do is to include prayer intentions for women and their partners who are in difficult circumstances or may be pressured to abort, that they will find the support they need to help them choose life. You can also make sure the clergy are aware of OptionLine.org as a first-line resource for women in difficult circumstances.

Three teens particpate in a Life Chain in Sugar Land, TX.

Encourage him to allow your church to participate in events such as Life Chain. Find out more about Life Chain, and see locations in Texas below. (Links are available to lists in other states and Canada.) Local pro-life organizations may also sponsor Stay and Pray or 40 Days for Life programs outside abortion facilities.

Invite your pastor to attend the gala for the local pregnancy center, or encourage him allow the church to participate in a fundraiser for them. Many pregnancy centers use a Baby Bottle Boomerang campaign to raise funds. Click on the button to see an example of a baby bottle campaign by a pregnancy center.

A Respect Life ministry within your church could take on much of the work it would take to educate the members, encourage prayer for mothers and babies, and show support for women in difficult circumstances. Christian Voices for Life can help with ideas and resources, and for those in the Houston area, live presentations.  Use button the right to obtain additional information about the possibilities for a Respect Life ministry or Committee.
